Jean-Pierre Gauthier has been present in the contemporary art scene since the mid-1990s. He pursues a hybrid approach integrating visual arts, sound and kinetic art. His installations have been showcased across Canada, the United States, South America, Europe and Asia. A prominent figure in Canadian media arts, his work has been shown at several digital arts events, including Transmediale (Berlin, 2006), Electrohype (Lund, 2006), Tonspur (Vienna, 2010), FILE (Sao Paulo, 2012) International Triennial of New Media Art (Beijing, 2014). In 2011, Village Voice considered its exhibition at the Jack Shainman Gallery as one of the top ten of the year in New York. Winner of the Sobey Prize in 2004, he is also a recipient of the 2006 Victor Martyn Lynch-Staunton Award and the 2012 Louis Comtois Award. The artist is represented by the Jack Shainman Gallery (New York).

Throughout the month of August, Galerie B-312 welcomes Jean-Pierre Gauthier in residence. This period of work will allow him to set up an impressive sound installation in situ, yours to discover as of September 5th, during the opening of the exhibition.
