Hélène Prévost produced and hosted several radio programs at Radio-Canada between 1977 and 2007, such as Musique Actuelle and Navire« Night ». In parallel with her radio career, she has developed a work of composition and sound exploration to which she now devotes herself entirely. Recently, we heard her work in 60 ans d’électro!, organized by the Réseaux des arts médiatiques (2008), and in L’art des bruits, presented by Mois Multi (2008).

Chantal Dumas plays the piano since she was a little girl. She tinkled out on the piano the classical repertoire for a long time. It was several years later through the radio that she became interested in sound creation. Since then, she has developed a varied production in radio creation, electroacoustic music and sound installation. Her radio work earned her several honors including three times the Phonurgia Nova Prize (France). At the moment, a selection of her compositions is being listened to as part of the C’est arrivé près de chez vous exhibition, presented at the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec.

—Thursday 22 January 2009 at 8 PM During the Nuit blanche 2006 and 2007, we invited Chantal Dumas and Hélène Prévost to produce short sound performances. This time, we invited them for the first Jeudi tout ouïe of the 2009 season.

"We are invited to the Jeudi tout ouïe event but there you go, there will be walls everywhere. And we cannot pierce them, nor shoot them down. It's very annoying. Since we know this, a question has becom important to us : how does sound work ?"
