L'Hexacorde
Les jeudis tout ouïe
Concert
—THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 15, 2007 AT 8 PM
L'Hexacorde—The explosion of the repertoire and the musical genre connected to the guitar, the deconstruction of the instrument itself, are at the heart of L'Hexacorde's artistic approach. This is how they rearrange works originally created for other instruments, drawing on a repertoire of contemporary, classical and avant-garde music. They are also working with young Canadian composers on the creation of specific works such as Patrick Beaulieu's Influx, a piece for 3 classical guitars, 3 electric guitars and bands that will be heard for the first time during this Jeudi tout ouïe. During this evening, they will present, among other things, Érik Satie's Sports et divertissements arrangements, Claude Vivier's Pulau Dewata, and a Tôru Takemitsu piece for guitar and flute with MariEve Lauzon. Their first album appeared under the Monsieur Fauteux label in 2004 and the Quatuor Bizarre piece is featured on the Sang9 compilation published by Ambiances Magnétiques.
