While photography is the essence of Alexis Gros-Louis' practice, he combines photographic techniques with a variety of media. These combinations, considered paratextual, aim to examine the substance of images as well as the histories and exchanges between objects, space and viewer. Alexis Gros-Louis highlights the complex relationships between the photographed objects, the space in which they are situated, and the viewer who interacts with the work. The artist is interested in notions of identity and belonging, and the normative systems of dominant cultures.

The Crystal Gazers project consists of a series of digital collages printed on decommissioned LCD screens. It was during a residency that Mathieu Grenier began this work, discovering the enormous quantity of used screens regularly accumulated in front of a television repair store in Brooklyn, end-of-life objects waiting to be shipped internationally, in order to be "recycled".

When the strange knock on the well-known door, it created perceptual and psychological discomfort. Involving itself cunningly, not to say sneaky, it causes awkwardness or fear. The artists reclaim a collective and symbolic basin to better invest it with a personal aesthetic.

Galerie B-312 is thrilled to join forces with Momenta | Biennale de l'image to present the exhibition Maggie Groat + Jamie Ross: Living Entities. The artists explore the unique energy of objects, probing the connections between mind and body, image and object, life and death.

Curator Santiago Pérez Garci, director of the Museo Nacional de la Estampa (Mexico) join forces with Arprim, and Circa art actuel, with the complicity of Galerie B-312, to host a collective exhibition with nine Mexican artists.

But the sound of a hammer in the distance prompts you to interrupt the recording. You stand up and look outside. The light fades. Your window shivers. The wind is blowing. A thin smoke emerges from a cigarette burning in an ashtray on the neighbor's windowsill.

Created by Jean-Pierre Aubé, 31 soleils (Dawn chorus) is an installation composed of a video and a sound piece. Entirely immersive, it is the result of the observation of the sunrise coupled with the low frequencies emitted by radio waves at this precise moment of the day.

Julie Favreau presents From Her Character an in situ proposal that continues the research initiated with She Century, a body of variable works that revisits the history and archetypes of women from the position of the artist and their apprehension of the gesture. 

Conversations Montréal | Lyon was initiated by curators Marthe Carrier and Chloé Grondeau and spearheaded by Galerie B-312 in Montreal. It has since become an avenue of exchange between Lyon and Montreal, with a particular emphasis on showcasing the local art scene in each city.

The first part of Statuer. Les figures du socle was recently presented at Action Art Actuel artist-run centre (Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu). With new artists and strictly pre-existing works, the second part take place at Galerie B-312. 

They are six. All in their twenties and thirties. They studied arts at Concordia University and UQAM. They chose painting. The exhibition Six peintres, deux écoles, trois lieux, une rencontre, presented in 2014 at Galerie B-312 and in two other Montréal art centres.

Charles Guilbert draws only human silhouettes, inhabited by the strange desire to exhaust that already exhausted figure. By drawing the human figure repeatedly, he juggles with two contradictory desires: that of sealing an archi-known image and that of dissolving it for good.

Jean-Pierre Gauthier offers us a real programmable orchestra made up of a series of string instruments and percussion instruments that deliver true musical performances of varying durations and musical influences.

To begin the 2014 season, Galerie B-312 invites you to an exhibition bringing together six graduates of Concordia University and UQAM from the Master’s of Visual Arts program. All have chosen painting.

Taking the form of an immersive installation made up of five luminous objects interconnected with each other, Rosalie D. Gagné's installation forms a complex tangle that recalls a neurons network. 

Galerie B-312 celebrates twenty years of ambitious projects with Revus, an exhibition drawing its origin from the gallery's guest books. Five artists were invited to work from these twelve guest books.
