21 février 2020 au 28 mars 2020

Due to recent directives from the Government of Quebec, Galerie B-312 is temporarily suspending its activities. The gallery will be closed to the public as of March 17, 2020, for an indeterminate period.

Galerie B-312 is pleased to welcome La Track | The Track, a project that includes residencies, discussion tables and two exhibitions. It brings together fifteen artists and marks the first collaboration between Pigment Sauvage–Art & Residencies, the Institute of Contemporary Art Baltimore (ICA) and Galerie B-312. Gabrielle Lajoie-Bergeron, signs the curatorial signature.—La Track | The Track was born from the will to build bridges between Quebec and Baltimore. All the invited Canadian artists and collectives first completed a two- to three-week residency at the Pigment Sauvage centre between February and October 2019. The Baltimore Artists participated in a residency at Galerie B-312 in August 2019. A public presentation of the artists' research concluded each residency. All the artists used their host city as the inspiration for their creation. Before being hosted at B-312, the work from the reciprocal residencies was first presented in a group exhibition at the CIA in November 2019. A programme of discussions around the reflections that led to the project was devised for each presentation. Geared towards disorientation, rootlessness and encounters, the 12 projects explore the way our relationship with the act of creation is affected by changes in scenery and culture. How can movement, shifting locations and the unknown characterize one’s identity, wheter it be cultural, historical, political or sexual? What do we bring back and what is left behind when we leave? A person? A state of mind? How do we mark our territory? What way of shattering conventions do we have? Making the limits indistinguishable? Blurring the lines? How do we (re)write history? Artists and collectives were encouraged to adopt an open stance in their creative approach. Leaving a lot of room for wandering, loss of reference points and random encounters to use as dialogue and as background material for the ideation of their proposal, La Track | The Track aims to develop a mixed, multidisciplinary, multicultural, inclusive, respectful and open program.—Gabrielle Lajoie-Bergeron

The Track | The Track project was born from the will to build bridges between the cities of Montreal and Baltimore. Between February and October 2019, the six multidisciplinary Canadians artists and collectives invited (performance art, visual arts, sound art and art installation) participated in a two to three week residency at the Pigment Sauvage Art & Residencies centre, after which they presented the results of their research and creations in a public presentation. In August 2019, the five Baltimore artists undertook a residency in Montreal to better reflect on the notions of uprootedness, disorientation and encounters. Their respective reflections and works will be presented in two group exhibitions at the Institute of Contemporary Art Baltimore and Galerie B-312.
